{christmas} day

It has came and went (which I am thankful for). It wasn't an easy or great Christmas. We had two wonderful times with friends and food; but the other stuff wasn't what I planned, hoped, expected - nor was it for Michael. Thus making us a little testy with each other. Needless to say, the evening hours brought conflict between us.

But the good news is, from this we had a long talk that was long overdue. Tears were spilled, but the laughter that followed and the sweet time of snuggling was WONDERFUL!

The evening finished off with fun. Because of the "tiff", we didn't do what was planned; instead we went to a later movie, just us 3. We saw Gulliver's Travels. (Highly recommended for families - it was funny for adults and children; princesses for the girls; battles for the boys; and clean for all ages - lots of fun) And since it was Christmas we even got treats. A Coca-Cola and popcorn, along with some snuck-in Christmas candy.

The night was good - day fair; but night good!

Today was the continuation of the great night. We had church as planned, all be it 30 mins late due to a locked building. I preached. The sermon focused on the shepherds and why, oh why would God send the one and only birth announcement and invitation to visit to the lowly shepherds. Although many answers have been proposed, today we looked at the simple reason of: God gave this announcement to these sheep herders to show his indiscriminate love for all, even the lowly. The challenge was to do as the shepherds did: run to Jesus and then tell everyone about Him.

After lunch we had BBQ, oh, BBQ - how i love thee! We were talking and I shared how much I disliked Famous Dave's went we move here. It just wasn't real BBQ; but now it's pretty good to me. I can't image what it will be like to head back to KC sometime and eat some real stuff. Like beans from Jack Stack, meat from Gates or Arthur Bryant's, and even a little Oden's. I do love BBQ. It's been suggested we try out a Texas chain that has a location up here called Dickey's. I think we will.

Then my husband became ill, and suggested to go to 2 malls and Best Buy. So we did. And it was fun! We got two new books for vacation. One is a church history book I am so looking forward to reading. I will have to post some info on it later. And we pick up some watercolour (props, to my Canadian friends) paper for Melisa's new easel for painting.

So, now we come to the night at home - and the blessing of knowing I have no work tomorrow. {thank ya Jesus} Things are laid out for packing later this week - so looking forward to warm weather, time to relax, and time to have fun. (Biggest worry right now is if Mom and Dad will let Michael and I have the queen bed, instead of the two twins -I really don't want to sleep separately on our first vacation since 2004 - Hint Hint: Mom Mary if you are reading, or even Aunt Rebekah)

Oh and by the way, I am loving Reese PB Cup Bells! Yum Yum!

Time to go make dinner, any suggestions?

I'm guessing it's too late to make suggestions for dinner... Chili would have been my suggestion had I seen this earlier!

I think I ate at Dickey's the last time I was in Dallas! If so, it *was* good!

I love it, Sarah. Thanks for posting and inviting me into the circle. So glad to get a little bigger glimpse into the world you live in. Hopefully 2011 will find our lives intersecting even more. =) The message on Sunday was great, btw.

Esther - thanks for the suggestion; but we have ate WAY too much chili lately. Actually that was what was on the food calender for last night.

Pam - thanks...see you soon.
